Geology Field Seminar of Southeast Utah

Houseboat on Lake Powell, Glen Canyon

Rainbow Bridge

What is their story? Discover and learn the geologic history and creation of Glen Canyon and southeast Utah's landforms. After our one-day drive to Hall's Crossing UT, we will be using a 52' houseboat as our floating classroom. We will travel on Lake Powell to reach Rainbow Bridge National Monument, and explore other side-canyons. A two-day return to NM allows for van and foot exploration of portions of Cedar Mesa, Valley of the Gods, and Comb Ridge. This unique Field Geology Seminar will provide you with a memorable learning experience.

Field geologist, Dr. Kim Manley, will teach the Geology Field Seminar. Dr. Manley, a geologist in Los Alamos NM, has taught geology courses intermittently for over 30 years. She has also worked 10 years as a mapping geologist for the US Geological Survey in Denver.
